Nursing Home Ministry Tips

Do be polite, and very courteous to all staff and residents. **ALWAYS** check with staff before bringing a resident to the event. The staff are often taxed and stressed by the demands of their shift (i.e. caring for thirty or more residents at a time).

Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

Do be friendly with the residents. Ask them about their background and lives. Share the Gospel of Jesus with them.

Ephesians 6:19-20 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Avoid being alone with a resident. Some residents who have not had healing manifest may not be mentally strong and could potentially make a false accusation against someone. Also, Jesus sent people in twos!

Luke 10:1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.

Matthew 10:16  Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

Please do not share any photos or videos of the residents on social media. Some of them do not wish to have their photo taken, and we are coming into their home.

Matthew 6:1 “Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven.” (NLT)

NEVER ask for or accept money from the residents.

Proverbs 19:17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

Make sure the resident is holding their feet up when pushing them in their wheelchair.
